Very interesting presentation. Nice to know that the large companies are on the mammoth task of updating infrastructure, but I also noticed that comcast is 'throttling' monthly usage. It looks like their will be different tiers of payment depending on number of hours online, or perhaps even time of day people are online.
As it says, the crucial thing is to try to keep monthly net access fees affordable. Keep in mind also that we are nowhere near 100% adoption of the net–more like 50%. More users, more stress to the system. But also the potential for more new paying clients.
As for packets of information, keep in mind that the porn purveyors were able to do good business even in the dark ages of dialup thanks to working hard on streaming video.
But it is interesting to see just how much the computer has already become an integral tool in daily life for far more than work.

The internet is indeed changing and becoming integral to everything that we are doing. Most of us take infrastructure for granted.
It is always interesting to me to see the changes fully illustrated and not just happening in the background.
