What At Six Years Old - The Basics Of The Internet
Three Questions:
- What is a webpage?
- What is a Keyword?
- What is the Internet?
I am in the lesson phase with my daughter for the building of her website. And I must say, that this is a joy. She comes to me enthusiastically for her lesson for the day so that we can build her website.
Over the last few days, I give her a lesson and then ask her questions about it on the way to school the next morning as I drive her to make sure that she understands the concept from the day before.
What is the Internet? A big library with many books that I can lookup on the computer, a place for people to talk to each other and to look at cartoons and stuff.
That is about all you need to know about the internet. The rest gets to be very complicated and technical. And who needs to know all of that?
What is a Web Page? A place where people write stuff to let other people know what they are thinking or what they have for them.
Now that is a good definition. Getting the words in the right order is the important part and that is all testable.
What is a Keyword? The words that people type into the search engine to find what they are looking for. And, they want the information real fast or they will get mad and leave.
Finding the right keywords that are transactional, and then, matching the offer with the keyword conversation is the important part.
She asked me, “Can people buy stuff from the internet?”
Oh Joy … Perfect…
I think that I am going to learn more about the simplicity of online marketing during this special project. My six year old is going to teach me something. I’ll be documenting most of it here.
And, this is going to be fun and profitable in many ways. I want her to really understand this whole business and web thing and have the skill sets in her body.
I am not going to do it for her. But, I will let her use the advanced tools that I use. So she will have a jump on the market.
But hey - I am her Dad. That’s what Dad’s do.
