Too many times the reason that a business fails is because their message is not getting to the right people. It has nothing to do with their product or service. It has everything to do with their promotional strategy and tactics. No one will ever know that your business exists until you tell someone.
Have you gone by a store and asked yourself how do they stay in business? The secret is that they are promoting to someone and they are getting sales.
Today, I was talking to a gentleman who was the marketing manager for a flooring and tile company. His customers are the builders. He knew this and was very clear about to whom he needed to promote his company’s offer.
- Are you clear on who you need to promote to?
- Who is your customer?
- Why are they buying from you?
- Why should they buy from you?
These are the core questions for your promotional strategy.
On the other hand, I was talking to a business owner who prided himself on never advertising. At first, I thought this meant that he was super successful and the business was booming. It turns out that his business was not booming at all. In fact, the business has been in a steady decline. If you are not advertising and promoting your business everyday you are going to lose in the long run.
Bottom Line: Promote Or Die.
