Personal Project Management : No Time Like The Present

by David Bullock

How many times have you put off testing your web site, setting up that survey or making an appointment for no real reason and then the action item that is critical to your succdess does not get done.

I may have a solution for the nagging feeling that you have when you have a bunch of open action items. Here it is…

All day yesterday, I did an experiment.

I worked to the end of every task if I could. If I could get the task done or complete it, then I worked until that item was complete.

That means with every email exchange I worked until the appointment was set. With every phone call, I worked to send out the requests and email followup immediately after the call.

Do you know what happened?

At the end of the day, I was complete. There were no tasks “hanging around” for me to think about or do. Talk about sleeping well. Everything task or followup, next item was in someone else’s court.

So this morning, all I have to handle is today’s stuff not yesterday’s.

I think I finally beginning to understand the keys to time and task management.

I encourage you to try this for one work day to see what it does.

This is not altogether new thinking.

But the question is will you do it. Those things which are easy to do are also easy not to do.

Til next time,
